About the role
We are hiring a full-time high school Science Teacher to carry the science program for grades 9–12. You will teach high school sciences across the week.

Academy for GOD is a non-public Category 3 school serving roughly 240 students K–12 in Old Hickory, Tennessee. We are a Christian school installing a coherent, evidence-based academic program across every core subject. Our shared instructional method is Explicit Instruction (Anita Archer model), and we favor physical materials over digital wherever possible.

Responsibilities
- Teach high school science courses, including (if applicable also Math):
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Create engaging lesson plans and assessments aligned with course objectives.
- Differentiate instruction to meet student needs.
- Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with students and families.
- Maintain accurate grades and records.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
- Foster a positive, Christ-centered classroom environment.
- Collaborate with school leadership and colleagues to strengthen the science program.
- 10th grade supervision — daily lunch supervision, Wednesday Chapel, and 10th grade Flex periods on non-science days.
- Partner with the Principal of Secondary, Math Lead (Janae Castro), and Director of Curriculum & Instruction on planning and student progress.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events.
Requirements
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Demonstrated ability to teach both upper-secondary mathematics and at least three high school sciences (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics).
- Classroom teaching experience at the high school level.
- Demonstrated commitment to explicit, structured instruction as a shared method.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Alignment with the school's Christian mission and values.
Preferred qualifications
- Tennessee teaching license (secondary mathematics and/or science).
- Saxon Math curriculum experience at the upper-secondary level.
- Experience teaching science in a mastery-based or conceptual sequence (Oak National Academy, Modeling Instruction, or similar).
- Prior experience serving as a homeroom / advisor for a grade-level cohort.
