Description
Teachers at First Academy are first responsible for the safety and well being of each child under their care. These positions are responsible for the day to day execution of First Academy’s vision, values, and educational philosophy in the classroom to each individual child by leading their class through the daily lesson plans, and preparing for the following day.
Classroom Responsibilities:
- Know the name and age of each child in your classroom, and their parents’ names.
- Know each child on a personal level in order that you can best help them learn and engage in daily activities. Daily preparation of materials and classroom set up.
- Start each day and meal with prayer time.
- Review and prepare the daily lesson plan, make necessary updates in the daily schedule in Brightwheel.
- Organizing, cleaning, and preparing the classroom and cabinets for the following day after all children have been picked up. If you share a classroom with another teacher, communicate any important information or changes that were made.
- If there are any needed supplies or repairs, put in a request through the appropriate Google Form.
- Greet children daily with a positive and welcoming attitude. You set the tone for your classroom every day.
- Communicate with your assistant teacher regarding classroom transitions, activities, and documenting progress reports, incidents, or requests.
Safety and Compliance:
- You are responsible for your classroom safety and compliance of state regulations at all times throughout the day. If something is out of compliance, do not wait to address it. If you do not know if something is in compliance or not, it is your responsibility to ask and learn.
- Safety extends beyond the physical safety of your classroom. You are expected to create an emotionally safe environment where kids are comfortable to learn, grow, and express themselves in a positive manner as they are in a very critical stage of their development.
In the event of an emergency, you are expected to take charge of your classroom in a calm and confident manner. You are expected to communicate with your assistant teacher so that they know how to best help the situation, keeping children calm and organized through the duration of the situation. - Must attend scheduled training including orientation, CPR training, and annual training. If unable to attend for any reason, you are responsible for locating and paying for replacement training.
Ministry Responsibilities:
- Our mission is to help children gain a basic understanding of who God is, His love for them, and what it means to trust in him. This is done through not only what we teach, but how we teach.
- All staff at First Academy are expected to work and act with Christian character and integrity in all we do.
- Must agree and adhere to First Celina’s Core Belief’s, and display a vibrant pursuit and relationship with Jesus Christ.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma.
- Must be physically able to lift 25-30lbs multiple times per day, as well as get up and down from the floor regularly.
- Must receive an "eligible" status from a finger-print based national background check.
