Description
The MS ELA teacher instructs students in grades 6-8 on grammar, reading comprehension, writing, and novel studies. . The candidate selected will create lesson plans and foster a faith-based environment, a bachelor's degree and a demonstrated profession of faith is required. A middle school teacher in a Christian school acts as both an educator and a spiritual mentor, integrating biblical principles into academic instruction while fostering a Christ-centered environment for grades 6-8. Responsibilities include developing engaging, faith-aligned curricula, managing student behavior, and mentoring students.
Responsible for the preparation and implementation of instruction of English Language Classes in the Middle School (6th – 8th)
Serves as part of the Middle School staff and contributes appropriately to all meetings, initiatives, programs, and activities
Educates students with grace and truth from a Biblical perspective
Sets, reviews, and achieves annual performance goals with the Principal
Shows proficiency with software applications (MS Office/FACTS) required for effective, efficient school operation
Demonstrates ability to physically perform tasks involved with monitoring, supervising, and active instruction
Communicates promptly and effectively with students, colleagues, and parents
Supports students and the school by attending additional school or class events
Arrives on time for contract hours and assigned duties
Conscientiously fulfills responsibilities of assigned duties
Performs other tasks willingly, as assigned by the Principal
Demonstrates ability to enhance academic performance and support for and implementation of Park Avenue Christian Academy student achievement goals
Demonstrates competence in content knowledge appropriate to the teaching position
Demonstrates competence in planning and preparing for instruction
Uses strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students
Uses a variety of methods to monitor student learning
Demonstrates competence in classroom management
Fulfills professional responsibility established by the school
Demonstrates consistent spiritual leadership in the classroom and school through biblically directed, Christ-centered education
Prepares weekly lesson plans, available for viewing by the Principal
Attends all staff and professional development meetings
Job Requirements
Responsible for the academic instruction of (6-8) Middle School students in English Language Arts material
Uses diversified strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students
Uses a variety of methods to monitor and assess student learning
Demonstrates competence in classroom management
Engages in professional growth as assigned by the school and available for personal interest
Sets, reviews, and achieves annual performance goals with Principal
Conscientiously fulfills responsibilities of assigned duties (recess, committee, extra responsibilities)
Performs other tasks willingly, as assigned by the Principal
Maintain regular and accurate attendance and grade records to meet the demands for a comprehensive knowledge of each student’s progress.
Requirements
BA or BS degree
Experience with English Language Arts writing, reading and grammar concepts
Christian with a testimony of saving faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
In agreement with the Statement of Faith, Lifestyle and Church Membership Statements
Active member / regular attender of a Bible-believing church
