I. Our Non-Negotiable Qualifications
Every staff member at VCA is expected to embody these three pillars because they are the foundation of our team. We believe that doing all things with excellence for the Glory of God requires a commitment to these standards. Failure to maintain these standards is considered a breach of this employment agreement.
1. Living Faith: Intentional Walk with Jesus
~Recognizing that we cannot give to students what we do not possess ourselves.
Spiritual Leadership: Maintain a vibrant, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Act as a consistent Christian role model in speech, conduct, and attitude for students, parents, and peers.
Church Membership: Remain an active, participating member of a Bible-believing church.
Biblical Integration: Effectively weave Scripture and a Christian worldview into all instructional planning tools.
Integrity: Demonstrate unwavering honesty, loyalty to the school’s mission, and a character that honors Christ in both private and public life.
2. Coachable & Collaborative: "Iron Sharpening Iron"
~Approaching collaboration with the humility of Christ, putting the needs of the team and students above personal preference.
Unity over Individualism: Commit to a collaborative spirit, recognizing that we are one team. This requires communication skills, a humble spirit, and a heart for working together rather than in isolation.
Growth Mindset: Embody the principle of "Iron Sharpening Iron" by being open to reflective and corrective feedback. We are committed to continuous improvement for the sake of our students.
Flexibility: Maintain a "servant’s heart" by remaining flexible to school needs and maintaining confidentiality in all professional matters.
Professional Communication: Practice proactive, clear, and kind communication with staff and families while maintaining strict confidentiality regarding student and school matters.
3. Passion for Students: Reaching God-Given Potential
~Viewing every student as an image-bearer of God, worthy of our best effort and most creative instructional design.
Academic Excellence: Highly qualified (degreed/certification) and ministry-minded. Use experience and creativity to drive student achievement and a love for learning.
Diligence in Preparation: Work ethic is demonstrated through the rigorous preparation of daily lesson plans and year-long pacing guides for every subject/course. Teachers design instruction that is highly engaging, activities that are purposeful, and assessments that truly measure growth.
Ministry-Minded Environment: Use creative classroom management strategies and safety protocols to create a safe, engaging, well-managed space for learning for all students.
II. Job Performance Expectations: The VCA Work Ethic
