Position Overview
The American International School (AIS), Accra, is seeking a qualified and mission-driven Secondary English Language Arts teacher to join our faculty. AIS is a U.S.-accredited international Christian school offering Advanced Placement (AP) courses and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
The successful candidate will teach a range of middle and/or high school ELA courses and contribute to the continued strengthening of writing instruction, literary analysis, and academic communication across Grades 6–12.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver structured, standards-aligned ELA instruction
Prepare students for U.S.-based American curriculum, and/or AP and/or IB coursework (experience preferred)
Teach writing using clear frameworks and measurable outcomes
Maintain instructional pacing and assessment calendars
Use assessment data to inform teaching and student support
Collaborate with the Curriculum Coordinator to ensure vertical alignment
Integrate biblical worldview thoughtfully and appropriately
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field (Master’s preferred)
Secondary teaching certification
Experience teaching U.S.-based American curriculum, AP, IB, or comparable rigorous programs preferred
Demonstrated ability to teach academic writing with clarity and structure
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Mature Christian faith aligned with AIS’s mission
