We are looking for a passionate, kingdom-focused Secondary Social Studies Teacher with a heart to share the Gospel through the venue of international Christian education.
(Specific grade levels and courses will be assigned according to educational training, experience, and preference.)

Position Purpose / Description: The Secondary Social Studies Teacher contributes to the fulfillment of the Academy’s Ends and Mission as a primary agent involved in the educational experience of AAI students. As a professional and Christ-centered educator, the teacher impacts the intellectual, social, and spiritual development of students. Through interaction with parents, the teacher also has the opportunity to serve and minister professionally and spiritually.
Supervision: The Secondary Social Studies Teacher reports to and is under the direction and supervision of the Principal
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Teach Secondary Social Studies Teacher(7-12th grade) as assigned by the Secondary Principal.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of curriculum and corresponding documentation for assigned classes, as consistent with changes in AAI Bible standards and Ecuadorian Ministry of Education requirements.
- Employ technology as appropriate to enhance instruction and learning.
- Maintain accurate records of students’ progress in class and on examinations.
- Keep order in the classroom and handle student behavior issues in accordance with school system policies.
- Communicate students’ progress to parents, particularly regarding students who need tutoring or other extra assistance.
- Post grades and send grade reports to parents as required via Renweb (FACTS).
- Provide appropriate resources and learning materials for students.
- Identify and implement varying teaching methods that work best for students who learn differently.
- Maintain an orderly classroom.
- Mentor students during and after school hours by participating in extracurricular activities and discipleship activities. May include evenings and weekends on occasion
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:45 am – 4:15 pm

Requirements
General Qualifications: Consistent with those established in the AAI Policy and Procedures Manual.
Minimum educational background/degree:
- Bachelor's degree in Secondary Social Studies Education or related field AND teacher certification through ASCI or a U.S. certification program or the equivalent of an education degree/certificate in a non-US country.
- Minimum job-related experience: Successful completion of a student-teaching practicum; 1 year of classroom teaching experience preferred
- English and/or Spanish proficiency level: Native English (C2). Conversational Spanish proficiency is preferred.
Unique Qualifications: Ability to relate to and work well with youth ages 12-18
