Description
The Vice Principal shall:
- Reflect the purpose of the school, which is to honor Christ in every activity, policy, and decision.
- Cooperate with the CBASB and principal in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school.
- Recognize the need for good public relations.
- Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school’s constituency and the general public.
- Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration.
- Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with conflict with students, parents, staff, and administration.
- Attend and participate in scheduled board meetings, staff prayer, parent teacher conferences, devotionals, in-services, retreats, committees, faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and Parent-Teacher Fellowship meetings.
- Know the procedures for dealing with emergency situations.
- Set an example of spiritual and professional growth
- Serve as either the Dean of Men or Dean of Women.
- Responsible for maintaining the school’s status of accreditation.
- Participate in at least one annual off-site ACSI accreditation team visit.
- Teach a minimum of two-three Middle School/High School classes as assigned by the principal.
- Serve as a possible substitute teacher in the absence of the classroom teacher.
- Assist the principal in the interviewing of new teachers and staff.
- Assist the principal in the interviewing of new families.
- Assist the principal in the counseling, admonishing, and discipline of students.
- Assist the principal in the observation and evaluation of teachers.
- Assist the principal with student recruitment, admissions, and retention.
- Assume the leadership role in the absence of the principal.
- Keep an updated record of all field trips and off campus activities.
- Lead staff meetings in the principal’s absence.
- Assist the principal with establishing a professional development plan for all CBA staff.
- Assist the principal with maintain and implementing policies for curriculum selection and evaluation.
- Assist the principal in fostering a Biblical worldview in teachers and students.
- Assist the principal in establishing and maintaining a school-wide improvement plan.
- Coordinate ACSI Academic/Field Day, WV Golden Horseshoe, Spelling Bee, etc
- Be ready to assist in any additional reasonable duty as deemed necessary by the principal for the good of the school program.
Note: No single leader can do all these things well simultaneously, but the wise leader manages all their responsibilities with humility and support from others.
Requirements
General Qualifications
Administration and faculty shall:
- Be selected on the basis of biblical and academic qualifications.
- Be in harmony with the statement of faith, school purpose and philosophy, core value statements, and goals of CBA.
- Give evidence of good moral character and be proper role models.
- Show evidence of a genuine love and concern for children.
- Be able to have biblical conversation with hurting people and biblical dialog when addressing sinful behavior. (Truth & Grace)
Teacher Qualifications – The Vice Principal must also meet the guidelines of teachers as established in the Teacher Manual.
Professional Qualifications
The vice principals shall:
- Educational qualifications.
- Minimum education – B.S. or B.A. degree with subsequent training in the field of educational leadership. The vice principal must also have or be pursuing a Master’s Degree. It is highly recommended that the graduate degree be in the field of education. If presently enrolled in a Master’s Degree program the applicant must show the ability to complete this degree within one year after assuming the position of principal or vice principal.
- Embark upon a program of continuing education as established by the school board.
- Obtain ACSI certification in the field of administration.
Be selected by the CBA school board recommendation by the principal. The CBASB will make the recommendations to CBC for final approval of the vice principal.
The vice principal shall:
- Have accepted Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior. (Rom. 10:9-10)
- Demonstrate a conviction of God’s call to become involved in this Christian school ministry. (I Cor.7:21-24)
- Demonstrate spiritual maturity, a teachable spirit, and a clear conscience before God and man. (Tit. 2:2-8)
- Be a member of Calvary Baptist Church and in harmony with the school’s statement of faith. (Heb. 10:24-25)
- Know the importance of prayer and a daily time of meditation in the Word of God, actively pursuing a relationship with God. (Ps. 42:1-2)
- Have a workable knowledge of the Word of God. (I Tim. 4:7)
