Trinity Christian School is seeking a passionate and dedicated High School English Teacher to join our faculty. This full-time position is responsible for teaching foundational literature and writing skills while guiding students to think critically, communicate effectively and engage texts through a Biblical worldview. The ideal candidate will cultivate a love for reading, writing and thoughtful discussion, helping students see truth, beauty and meaning through the lens of Scripture.

Position Type: Full-Time Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM Contract Length: 10 months (August through May)
Key Responsibilities
Teach English Literature I, focusing on foundational literary analysis, reading comprehension and writing development
Integrate a Biblical worldview into literature instruction, encouraging students to evaluate themes, characters, and ideas through the lens of Scripture
Develop engaging lesson plans that include a variety of literary genres (novels, short stories, poetry, and nonfiction)
Instruct students in writing skills, including grammar, composition and analytical writing
Foster classroom discussions that promote critical thinking and deep content dialogue
Assess student learning through essays, projects, tests and presentations
Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student growth
Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student progress
Collaborate with colleagues and administration to support academic excellence and student development
Participate in school events, faculty meetings and professional development opportunities
Support the mission and values of Trinity Christian School in all interactions
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field
Valid teaching certification (or ability to obtain)
Prior high school English teaching experience preferred
Strong knowledge of literature, writing instruction and grammar
Commitment to integrating faith and learning from a Biblical perspective
Excellent communication, organization and classroom management skills
A personal and active Christian faith consistent with the mission of the school

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Spiritual Asks the Holy Spirit to lead daily. Participates in faculty prayer times. Prays daily for the class and leads the class in prayer time. Is ready to lead students to faith in Jesus and actively seeks to disciple them. Demonstrates a cooperative, respectful, and positive attitude. Remains teachable.
Attendance Makes every effort to be present every day, understanding excessive absences can result in disciplinary actions up to termination of employment. Understands the general school day operations for full time employees are from 7:30 until all end of day duties are completed, including car line, typically around 3:45, understanding car line times will fluctuate. Is on time daily for prayer or before school duty and then present in the classroom and prepared prior to the start of scheduled class(es). Attends all staff meetings and professional development events as required by the Principal. Attends all school sponsored events, such as Open House, Honors Night, Go Week, Graduation, or special programs. Attends one scheduled school dance per school year (homecoming semester I/prom semester II).
Classroom Management Provides a supportive, safe, and nurturing classroom environment for every student. Trains students in classroom procedures and is consistent in practicing them. Utilizes positive, loving discipline techniques that correct and build up rather than tear down. Praises publicly, disciplines privately. Avoids sharp words, raised voices, inappropriate vocabulary, angry responses, words, or actions that are demeaning or humiliate, and the use of sarcasm. Informs the Principal/Dean of Students of problems that develop in the classroom. Trains students to be polite and respectful. Documents and reports any events that may lead to suspension or expulsion of students to the Principal/Dean of Students immediately but not beyond 24 hours of the event.
Curriculum and Lesson Plans Seeks to teach from a biblical, Christian worldview in every subject area. Prepares lesson plans at least two weeks in advance on Blackbaud and keeps them current in the event of changes. Develops a schedule that adequately fits the needs of the students and the demands of the curriculum, implementing appropriate methods of teaching. Assigns appropriate out-of-class practice or supportive activities as needed. Maintains all academic records in a timely and efficient manner in Blackbaud. Records and maintains attendance records in Blackbaud daily as required by the Administration. Completes term grades by the deadline given by the school office. Keeps parents informed of conduct and academic progress. Documents all problems, potential problems, correspondence, and communications. Identifies students, as needed, for SST files or Skills development. Keeps SST files well documented and up to date.
Supervision Supervises students at all times. Instructs students thoroughly when a class project, experiment, or activity may involve safety risks, and includes proper instruction on safe use of equipment.
General and Professional Duties Diligently performs assigned duties including arrival, dismissal, lunch, and prayer. Holds parent conferences as needed, requested, or required by the Principal. Keeps the Principal informed of parent concerns and correspondence. Informs Administrative Assistant when supplies are low or when equipment is malfunctioning or needs service. Is aware that the Principal or designee may observe the class at any time. Leaves the classroom clean and orderly each day. Cooperates with faculty and staff to plan and practice programs for special events when required. Corrects student work that is to be displayed. Maintains a neat and professional appearance. Follows all other duties and policies as outlined in the TCS Staff Policy Manual, the Parent and Student Handbook, the High School Policies, and any other duties assigned by the Principal.
