Westlake Christian School, the premier private school in the greater Tampa Bay region on Florida's west coast, is seeking a highly motivated, engaged, and passionate Middle School Math Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The teacher will be joining an already robust and collaborative math team.
Teachers in Westlake's Middle School Math Department teach sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade students in small classes. Courses include general math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Geometry. Typically, math teachers have four or five classes with one or two preps. Westlake is committed to providing a superior education for all students. Our Math Department prepares students for high school and beyond.
This position is a full-time, salaried, exempt position and compensation is competitive for the greater Tampa Bay area. Requirements
The ideal candidates will have the ability to articulate a Biblical worldview and consider themselves to be 21st Century educators who embrace current best practices. Candidates should possess a desire to grow within a professional learning community and be enthusiastic about teaching and learning. Candidates should exhibit a passion for teaching and working with children and uphold the highest standards of excellence professionally and personally. Candidates should also have a clear understanding of the developmental stages of middle school-aged students. Candidates should be willing to collaborate with staff members and families and be reflective practitioners.
Additional Selection Criteria for Prospective Math Teachers
- Experienced in teaching middle school math concepts in preparation for and including algebra and geometry
- Articulates knowledge of best practices in teaching math
- Proficient in integrating the Biblical worldview into instruction
- Proficient in the use and integration of technology in the classroom, including SMART Board Technology.
- Values differentiated instruction
- Articulates understanding of the unique developmental needs of middle school students
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal skills
- Knows and applies knowledge of current professional literature and best practices
- Evidences excellent verbal communication skills
- Exhibits strong problem-solving skills
- Shows skill and sensitivity in working with all members of the school community
- Willing to contribute regularly to school community activities
- Master’s degree preferred
- Experienced teachers preferred
